Establishing Contact with Global Institutes and Expanding Resources of Childhood Organizations

In the early childhood field, we are responsible for the education of young children and families. It is our job to educate and advocate for those who do not have the knowledge, and the understanding of what it truly means to be child centered and family oriented. As a professional in the field, I have learned that we all must reach out to help families and children all over the world. For my blog this week, I chose to reach out to three global childhood institutes. My initial interest was in Serbia at the Centre for Interactive Pedagogy; I chose this institute because, I have a child in my classroom that was born there. I thought this would give me a better understanding of her culture, and how their childhood institutes operate in this area. My contact for this organization failed, due to an invalid email address on the website. The second institute I chose to explore was the Step-by-Step program in Haiti. I wanted to follow up on the tragedy that occurred a few years ago and to see how the childhood programs are fostering in that area. I am eager to receive a response from them. The third and final institute I chose to explore is the Open Academy in Croatia. I do not know a lot about this part of the world; I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn more about the children, families, and cultures in this area. I have not yet received a response, but I am hopeful. Right now, I do not believe I will have to use the alternative assignment method.

After my hunt for a global childhood institute, I began to research childhood organizations near and far. After searching and viewing several sites, I found an organization in the United States. This organization seems to have a vision and a mission that relates to my personal and professional interests. While researching the list of selected organizations, I found the National Black Child Development Institute. The name caught my attention because, I have never heard of this institute in all of my years in the childhood profession. I have decided to explore this organization throughout this course; I look forward to learning new things.
